oFsted Registered & Rated outstanding childminder in crawley offering childcare using hygge & the curiosity approach in a homely setting

About claire!

I have been working with children for many years and have a real passion for helping children to develop and learn.

My working background includes working as a private Nanny and in Pre-Schools before moving into working in Early Years within a primary school, this is where I developed my passion for working with children in the Early Years stages of life. For the last 18 months I have been working as a Co-Childminder along with a friend at her lovely setting in Faygate. I fell in love with the Hygge/Curiosty approach and have now decided to take my next exciting step to open up my own smaller setting to capture those 'WOW' moments of learning.

I am Cache level 2 & 3 in Early Years, Designated Safeguarding Lead, Enhanced DBS, Full Paediatric First Aid trained, including allergies, Level 2 in food safety and hygiene, SEND Diploma, fully insured and a certificate in Equality, Diversity & Inclusion. All certifactes can be seen upon visits.

I live with my husbrand Bradley and our two older children Molly and Jack along with our three little Shih Tzus.  I have dedicated areas of play and sensory along with being able to provide shelter outdoors to offer year round outdoor fun, which I absolutley love.

I will be expanding upon childrens interests, along with outings, day trips and teaching children how to be kind and confident with animals including safe boundaries and animal care this will include some time spent with my three dogs (although the dogs will not be with the children all day every day).

My whole family feel privileged to be a part of yours and your childs early years journey where every child is celebrated for being unique and encouraged to flourish, explore, builld confidence and independence, make friends, play and grow in a cosy, happy and safe environment.

One question I get asked a lot is will my child learn more at a nursery rather than a childminder. The short answer is no, I would like to reassure and explain to parents that all registered child care providers, such as pre schools, nurseries and childminders ALL have to follow the EYFS (early years) Statutory Framework and the only difference is the choice of approach for how this is delivered. My choice is through the amazing Hygge/Curiosity Approach and I am currently working towards becoming an Hygge accredited setting.

Hygge

Hygge in the Early Years

Atmosphere – creating a calm vibe.
Presence – being present and living in the moment.
Pleasure – life should be fun, enjoyable and bring great happiness.
Equality – no one is better than anyone else.
Togetherness – spend time with people you care about and those that make you smile.
Gratitude – take time to reflect on what you’re grateful for.
Harmony – life is not a competition.
Truce – there’s no need for arguments.
Comfort – relax, wear fluffy socks and be cosy.
Shelter – your home is important.

What is hygge?

Put simply, hygge is a Danish attitude to life that focuses on living in the moment and feeling the joy there is in everyday routines and activities.

It could be the togetherness you enjoy as you come together as a group, or the cosy warmth you feel as you’re sat on the sofa reading a book next to the crackling fire while it’s snowing outside.

The Curiosity Approach

How We Use The Curiosity Approach

The Curiosity Approach puts an emphasis on creating awe and wonder into a childs learning.

We use natural resources in our setting designed to encourage the children to use their imagination and creativity on a daily basis and incorporate this into our topics.
